Privacy Policy

We collect account details such as your name, email address, sign-in activity, and profile preferences. We also collect the recipes, cookbook names, photos, notes, family stories, ratings, favorites, meal plans, grocery items, invitations, and settings that you add to Home Cooked.

Some features collect information only when you use them. Recipe idea prompts, recipe photos for import, optional AI provider settings, image search terms, and nearby grocery-store searches are processed so those features can work. Location is used only when you ask to find nearby stores or type a location for that search.

If you subscribe to Plus, Stripe processes your payment. We receive limited billing information such as a Stripe customer or subscription identifier, subscription status, price, billing-period dates, payment outcome, and cancellation settings. Home Cooked does not receive or store your full card number or card security code.

We use your information to operate the app, keep you signed in, sync your cookbooks, send invitation and account emails, power recipe imports and AI idea features, build grocery and meal-planning views, improve reliability, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Your cookbook content is shared with the people who have access to that cookbook. Outside your invited members, we share information with service providers that help run the app, such as authentication, database, storage, email, hosting, AI, image search, location-search, and payment providers. Stripe receives the information needed to process subscriptions, payments, invoices, and account billing management. See Stripe's privacy policy for its independent processing practices.

Content contributed to a shared cookbook is part of that cookbook. If a contributor's account is deleted, recipes and stories that remain in a cookbook may stay available to its members with the account link removed and a historical display name retained. This avoids removing shared family content simply because one person leaves the service.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the service, or to respond to security, fraud, or safety issues.

Home Cooked uses strictly necessary authentication cookies managed by Supabase to keep you signed in, refresh your session, complete email-code and Google sign-in flows, and protect authenticated requests. These cookies are used to provide a feature you request and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

We also use browser localStorage, sessionStorage, and limited offline browser storage to remember app state, support offline recipes and grocery features, and preserve sign-in-flow state such as an email-code resend cooldown. These browser-storage items support core product functionality and are not used for analytics or advertising.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to measure visits to public pages. We exclude private cookbook pages and remove query strings before sending page views. We also keep an internal record when a new account completes its first sign-in so we can measure signup conversion. We do not send your email, recipe content, invitation token, or account ID to Vercel Analytics. Vercel Web Analytics does not use analytics cookies. Hosting providers may also create standard server logs for security and reliability. We do not use advertising cookies or session-replay tools.

Recipe photos, cookbook covers, imported files, scans, and other uploaded content are stored so the app can display and process them. Files follow the recipe or cookbook they support rather than the account that uploaded them: an image used by a recipe that survives an account deletion may remain available to that recipe. Avoid uploading images or documents that include private details you do not want visible to cookbook members. Some stored files may be accessible to anyone who has the direct file link.

Account deletion removes the account and personal records, but does not automatically remove shared family content. A shared cookbook with other members must be transferred to another member before its owner can be deleted. Private cookbooks with no remaining members may be deleted with the account.

For an administrator-initiated deletion, we create an operational deletion record and, before deletion begins, send the account email a compact archive of cookbook content that will be removed. If the archive cannot be created or delivered, the administrator deletion does not proceed. The archive contains structured recipe data and metadata, not binary photo, scan, or PDF files.

We keep account and cookbook information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete recipes, cookbooks, and some settings in the app. After an account is deleted, shared content that survives may retain a former contributor's display name but not their active account reference. Deletion-operation and administrator audit records may remain for security, troubleshooting, and operational accountability. Some records may also remain for a limited time in backups, logs, or where retention is needed for legal or operational reasons. Moderation reports use minimal case references and operational notes; they do not copy recipe text or original media into the moderation record. If you cancel Plus, we retain billing records and saved content as needed to provide the Free plan, process support requests, prevent fraud, reconcile payments, and meet legal or accounting obligations.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including authentication, access controls, and provider security features. No online service can promise perfect security, so use care with invitations, shared devices, and the email account you use to sign in.

Home Cooked is intended for adults and household organizers, not for children creating accounts on their own. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us through the support channel in the app so we can review and delete it if needed.
